I have the Graco safeseat. its 2 and a half years old. The red part on the bottom that clips into the base broke off. I am sooo annoyed. I have no idea how and when this happened So I think what we are going to do is just get the Britax's/

Question though, can all the Britax's be rear facing in a car WITHOUT the latch system? My husbands doesnt have one, and we got a different seat for my older son, who is still rear facing. Zach, my younger, is only 15 lbs so he is going to be rear facing a LONG time, and I want to make sure he can be safely in both of our cars

I am trying to look at this rationally though....carseats expire after 5 years....we arnt having another for anotuer 2 years which means we'd have to buy another infant seat anyways, and were going to have to get Zach the next seat eventually anyways (Although mu older son was in the infant seat for 18 months, it goes 30lbs and 32 inches and he was 32 inches at his 2 year apt and nowhere near 30lbs)

any suggestions would be helpful, I am NOT happy

I would start by contacting Graco and explaining what happened. They need to hear about these things, because parents reporting issues is often how recalls happen. See if they will replace your seat - that will get you a new seat with 6 more years left on it.

All car seats can be installed with a seatbelt instead of LATCH - all types, Britax and not. Most seats expire after 6 yrs, though some last longer (True Fit = 7yrs, Radian = 8yrs)
