Please someone ease my fears!

Clay is starting school on Monday, and as of right now, he'll be a car rider via daddy and riding home in his own seat. (Britax Regent) There is however,a chance that he may end up being a bus rider due to my husbands busy work schedule, and the fact that I do not drive. Please ease my fears about the bus! He's never NOT been harnessed, let alone in a seat with NOTHING!
How safe are school buses? Should I even consider it,or choose another option? ie: extended day care until daddy can come get him.
He is 6 years and 7 months old,4ft tall, and 50lbs if that matters at all.
TIA!

They "claim" busses are safe without seatbelts, however...I have seen videos that make me think otherwise. I have no choice but to let Ethan (10) and Toryn (6) ride on the bus, and honestly they always have.

School buses are very safe. #1 they're bigger than almost anything else on the road, you have that on your side. #2 they make use of compartmentalization, which cars do not.

He will be fine.

Ditto what Erica said I have absolutely NO problems with school busses and Braedon has been in them quite a few times. Don't worry mama!!

Oh but you do need to talk to him about sitting in a seat properly though. Same rules apply. I know bus drivers will not drive if anyone is standing but you know how kids are

Make sure your child is not one of them!

Yep, he needs to be aware that he needs to remain sitting at all time. And that loud noises and commotion is a distraction to the driver, and for everyone to be safe they all need to be on their best behaviors.
