A while back I had posted about getting a safe cover for the Safety 1st Air infant seat. Well we have decided to go ahead and just go straight to a convertible. Tomorrow I am ordering the MR65 for our munchkin due in Nov. We live in Western New York so I was wondering what blankets would be best for tucking around him when we take him into the stores and such. I have a friend sending me an infant carrier to wear around the store/mall. I wasn't planning on getting him a snowsuit or anything. So what would you suggest putting on him that is safe for the seat, and also type of blanket to bundle him up when we go from car to store and back out again?

Thanks!!

You can put him in a fleece snowsuit, but nothing thicker than that. Something like this:
Trail Model Fleece Coveralls: Jackets and Parkas at L.L.Bean
http://www.columbia.com/Snowtop%E2%8...efault,pd.html
Columbia Sportswear | Little D Fleece Bunting-Baby

You can also look into a car seat poncho. The Car Seat Poncho - the safe easy alternative to a bulky winter coat

While he's super tiny, it might be a little too bulky to use though. Dress him in warm clothes with a hat and mittens. You can put any kind of blanket over the harness. We're only concerned if something is UNDER the harness- between the straps and baby.

What about something like this??
JCPenney : Okie Dokie® Newborn Boy 2-pc Pram Bag with or without the second piece

or

Clothes for women, men, kids and baby | Old Navy

Our budget is tight right now..the first one is a link that DH's Aunt sent me. The second one I found when I was browsing months ago. I have a couple fleece blankets on hand to use for tucking around him and for when we are walking in/out of the store.

The Old Navy one would be fine, as long as it fits properly. If it's too big, it shouldn't be used.

I wouldn't use the one that you linked from JC Penny. With the "bag" part on, it's doubling the amount of fabric in the front and the back of the child. Too much bulk.

re: that JC Penney link - keep an eye out at Wal-Mart. When Cait was tiny, we found something like that (but all one piece) both there and at TJ Maxx. They have über-thick ones, but we found a few that were thin (but dense) fleece. I've never been able to find anything like the fleece ones on their website though, otherwise I'd post a link.

We have the Columbia Sportswear | Little D Fleece Bunting-Baby and LOVE it.

If the Old Navy one is the same that they had last year it was bulky fleece.
