It gets pretty cold here in Winter and my sonny boy has a nice big thick snow suit! He's in an infant bucket seat and we now take walks with the stroller travel system. I don't drive or have a car and we don't go for car rides often,if I do though I'll be sure to buckle up in a safe way and keep him warm the right way. My question is for walks should I also put the snowsuit and buckle up the same way that I would if we were in the car? Does it matter if it's a walk or a drive the way he should be bundled and buckled into his seat? For now I do it as I would in the car,but we don't need to bundle up much now.

If you're just going on a walk, it doesn't matter.

If he's going to be riding in the car, you want him to be safe. And a big think puffy snowsuit is NOT safe no matter what. Your best option is to get him a FLEECE bunting, like this (this is just an example, but there are LOTS of these available at lots of stores with varying prices): Clothes for women, men, kids and baby | Old Navy Make sure it fits him properly. You do not want it too big, or it's a safety hazard in the car seat.

Put him in the car seat with this bunting on, hood up (you can put an additional hat on him before putting the hood on if you wish). Buckle him in and make sure the harness is snug. Then take a blanket, and put a blanket over him from the arm pits down. You can tuck the blanket around him, since he's already harnessed in. Then, use a SHOWER CAP STYLE cover over the seat. They look like this:

The cover needs to be a shower cap style because it doesn't interfere with the harness. You don't want to add anything additional between the baby/harness/car seat. In other words, you do not want a cover that looks like this:

Your baby will stay safe and remain very warm by doing what I just told you.

Here is a picture of my youngest all bundled up in her infant seat:
