ok, I am supposed to get my HCG shot on Thursday if everything looks ok. my questions are:
1. Did you give yourself the shot?
mine came in the mail and I guess I just need to take it with me to my RE?
2. What were the side affects?
If they give it to me there, will I be ok to drive home? my Dh can't make this appointment.

The very first time I took it with me to my RE appt and they gave it to me. You will be fine to drive home. Every time I have gotten it it makes me fell pg for anywhere from 5-10 days. B/c it is the hcg hormone that your body gives off when you are actually pg. But everyone is different. You may not have any s/e at all. They gave mine in the thigh- I just had some tenderness for a couple of days. Good luck and I hope everything goes well for you!

DH gave me my shot and I didn't have any side effects. If your shot is Ovidrel it is supposed to be refrigerated so not sure if you need to pack a cooler. Best of luck to you.

You might want to transport it that way. I know when I picked up my Ovidrel, Walgreens gave me a box with dry ice so I could get it home.

On your inserts it should say if you can keep it at room temp. I keep my ovidrel at room temp. It is okay to do this for 30 days or you can keep it cold if you need it say 6 months from now.

The nurse at the RE's office gave me mine. Mine was in the top part of by backside. She had me stand on the opposite foot so it didn't hurt... I guess? Anyways... it didn't hurt one bit...and I had no side effects. Well except some pretty HPT's while watching it leave my system... than lots of wonder when the line never went away... but got darker

The trigger was much easier than my injectable meds. Took all of 5 minutes from when I walked in to when I walked out.

If you would like to see pictures of my sweet (but tiny) boy they can be viewed at www.caringbridge.org/visit/noahdarrohn they aren't the easiest pictures to look at but I am willing to share them with anyone who would like to see them <3
On August 2, 2012 we lost Sarah at 17 weeks. Her pictures can be viewed at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/sarahdarrohn
There is no known explanation for my losses.

The nurse injected mine in my right hip and it burned for a couple of minutes. It was tender for a day or two whenever I sat down.

As for s/e, I had bad cramping on both sides BUT, that being said, it was also the first time my body had ovulated in its entire 30 year lifetime. So I think my ovaries were just punishing me. After that, I had pg symptoms for two weeks.

If you plan to test early on a hpt, you might want to start testing at 5dp Trigger to watch the hcg leave your system. Otherwise, you may get a false positive. It can take up to 14 days for 10,000 units to completely leave your body but if you've watched the line disappear and it comes back, well, that right there is good times.

Good Luck, hon!! I hope this leads to your BFP!

I too was sore for a couple of days. My nurse gave it to me just about hip level. I did start vomiting later that night, but I think it was something I ate. My stomach ballooned up and afterwards I felt fine. Good Luck!!!
