Hi ladies,
I have been using OPKs and the line is getting pretty dark so I think I will detect my surge within the next day or two. That means I should go in for my IUI, however, I am sitting here starting to sneeze and have a sore throat and mild headache, so...........................................would you still have an IUI with a cold/flu symptoms? Do you think it will reduce my odds even more?

Mind you, I am paying pretty good amounts of money for the sample and procedure here in California ;-)

Do you have a fever? If you do, I'd skip it. You don't want to cook those spermies! If you don't have any kind of fever then I guess I'd go for it, but only if you feel up to it.

Yet another wonderful siggy by HeatherW.... thank you so much!!!

Oh wow! I am sorry to hear you are sick. Whatever you decide, if you go for the IUI I hope this is your cycle to get the BFP!

I was also wondering about a fever. Some ladies have been sick during IUI and it was fine. I, however, ended up with the flu for my IUI and it caused a false positive OPK and a very poorly timed IUI. If it's just a cold, that would probably be ok, but if your body temp is rising, I would skip it personally.
Our TTC journey: 6 cycles Clomid, lap surgery/ D&C, IUI, 2 x IVF; 41 cycles- BFN.
IVF#1 (March 2010) Transferred two 8-cell grade A (perfect) embies- BFN and heartbroken.

IVF#2/FET#1 (Jan/Feb 2011):Transferred two (7&8 cell) grade A (PERFECT) embies- BFN again.
IVF#3/FET#2 (November 2014) Transferred two perfect blasts- First BFP Ever.

BABY BOY- JULY 2015 @ 34 weeks 6 days

Our family is now complete. The End.

No fever ladies, just a runny nose and headache. I'm still temping in the morning, and my temp isn't too high or anything. No positive OPK today, maybe tomorrow though.

I had an IUI when I was like, the sickest i had EVER been, chills, aches, sore throat, AWEFUL, never felt worst. I even had a corpus luteum cyst at the begining of my cycle (thankfully it was gone by trigger time) I felt like an idiot and my cycle would be a waste- however it was God's special timing... SO MANY TIMES i almost cancelled, and now I am so thankful I didn't. I wouldn't be holding this amazing boy in my arms had I cancelled. I SAY DO IT and good luck!!!

Hi Ladies,

I just googled how getting sick would affect getting pregnant and found this thread. I started feeling a little sick on Monday and had our IUI on Tuesday. Well, that afternoon, I went downhill and was in bed for the last three days with sever head and body aches, diarrhea, sore throat, painful coughing and in chest, ear ache etc... had a mild fever but I was taking a ton of acetometaphine. So, now that I'm feeling a little better, I'm all worried about how the medication I took will effect a possible pregnancy?

I took a lot of acetometaphine since I read somewhere that Ibuprophin was not safe. I also took Pseudoephedrine HCI (30mg) twice and musicnex twice and Tylenol Cold & Flu severe once. That has:
Destromethorphan (10mg), Guaifenesin (200 mg) and Phenlephrine HCI (5 mg). I'm a little worried about the Phenlephrine but I took such a small amount and only once. Do you think these medications will not only affect our chances of conceiving but affect the fetus?

Last cycle I was SO sick in the beginning of the cycle. The worst flu ever and it lasted weeks. I did the IUI but it didn't work. Not sure if it didn't work because it wasn't going to, the flu, or the fact I had just come off a m/c.

What did you decide?
Due with #3
10 IUIs= one confirmed /IVF= BFN / FET= / FET2= Baby!
