Sorry if this is , but how much flow do you need to have in order to count it as CD 1? I have enough to wear a light tampon today, but it's been in for 3 hours and there were a little bit there, but not nearly full. Does that count as CD 1? I always thought that was right, but I just called my dr's office and the receptionist told me that day 1 should be the first day of heavy flow. I'm confused now!

I dont think that is right. I count day 1 as any actual flow. not spotting but like consistent red color. If you need a tampon then I would count it as day 1. But thats just my opinion.

I've wondered this as well. Since I've been taking Clomid, the first day is usually not red (actually it's a dark brown, which always worries me), but it's still enough to need a pad or tampon. I don't typically count it as day 1, though, because it's not red. I think that's the rule that I have heard most frequently in deciding when you've actually starting AF. HTH...

I would go with what your RE says. Each DR is different and might have protocol that goes along with that.

For me, my Re said anything that required a tampon or pad counted as heavy enough flow to be CD1.

Yet another wonderful siggy by HeatherW.... thank you so much!!!

For me its always different. I could have brown spotting on day 1 but I need a pad so I count it as day 1 even though I don't get a full red bleed till day 2...
or I could start off with a full heavy red flow.
Everyone is different honey and also every cycle is different. Oh and don't worry nothing here is

My doctor says CD1 is the 1st day you have heavy flow or the 2nd day you have spotting.
But I would go with what your doctor says.

Yes flow not spotting. If I am spotting and just start needing a pad at night, then I count the next morning as day 1.
