So, I had my saline sonogram today, and discussed all my labs with the doctor. We have been diagnosed with "unexplained infertility".
As it turns out, apart from very slightly elevated levels of TSH (I redid the lab today; can't wait to hear back with my results. If it is still high, I'm going on medication to lower it), I am completely & totally healthy and ovulating. My husband's labs weren't finished, but she suspects he's healthy too as we have conceived 3 times (2 losses) before the infertility happened.
So, this is the plan:
The doctor mentioned IUI first, but we talked to her about my husbands crazy hours (he's working rotating shifts), so we are starting with 3 months of Clomid and timed intercourse. So, starting next cycle (unless I get my BFP this month), I begin taking Clomid pills from days 3-7 and then doing the timed intercourse. I really hope this works!
She said the goal was to get me to produce 2-3 eggs a cycle, because I'm already ovulating, and the timed intercourse will hopefully maximize the chances of sperm being in the right place at the right time.
If it doesn't, we will move on to IUI.
Keep your fingers crossed, ladies!

Oh, my doctor also put in for a consult with the local military acupuncturist. *fingers crossed* I hope it goes through!

I'm glad everything looked good during your Saline Sono. I hope that the Clomid does the trick and you get your bfp very soon.

Yay for being healthy! Although I am sure it is frustrating to have unexplained fertility.
But you have a plan! Yay!! Fingers crossed that the Clomid does the trick!

It was a little (ok a lot) frustrating to get that diagnosis. On one hand, I'm happy that I'm healthy and on the other hand, I'm frustrated because it makes me worry that we're just not "doing it right". Ah well, it doesn't matter because in the end, we have a plan.
The doc also told me she wants me to look into holistic stuff... She is a big believer in the combo of western fertility medicine with more natural methods. She thinks that the combo produces better results than just one or the other on their own.

I'm with ya-- it's really frustrating to get that diagnosis, because then there's just chance that is left-- not some sort of medicine, surgery, etc. that they figure will help your chances a bit. Bleh.
I really like that your doc has suggested a combination of treatment styles. Based on everything all of us have probably read, that means she's really on the up-and-up. Lucky you. Good luck to you!!

I can imagine how frustrating that would be, to not have a definitive reason. It's amazing, with all of the advances they have made in fertility, there are still some things they just can't figure out. Sounds like you have a great doctor though! I love when doctors are more open to including natural approaches.

It only covers it at military treatment facilities, and only for retirees (which I am) or dependents after all the slots for active duty are filled. There were no more slots available at my local clinic, so I decided not to do it. I'm not really comfortable with it anyways, so it's not that big a loss (lol).

interesting...I'll have to ask if its offered at my MTF. I doubt there'd be slots, but its at least something to look into.

Cait, your plan is exactly like ours with the 3 cycles of clomid/timed intercourse and then on to IUI! I really hope you get your bfp soon though!

It's always good to ask but I wouldn't get my hopes up. My referral listed other deployment/service related issues that are considered (by Tricare) treatable by acupuncture and I still got denied. Acupuncture referrals are super hard to get if you're not active duty and it's not for physical issue (like back pain or joint pain, etc.). My husband (he's active duty) was referred for acupuncture for a chronic joint problem and it got denied. One of my friends did get referred to for acupuncture, but she has serious back problems she got while deployed (she's currently active duty as well).
I think acupuncture is like the holy grail of Tricare referrals. Getting one is like finding the golden ticket it seems like!
