I'm not sure if anyone watches or if this topic was already brought up, but did anyone see the season premiere? What did you think?

I haven't done IVF or even looked into it, but I would think that your egg ovulating in those 15 minutes is super rare. How sad for her...I hope they make a baby soon!!

I don't watch the show, but can you explain? Why does she have to ovulate in a 15-minute time frame?

I did see them on a talk show a while back, and I really liked them. I hope that they can have the family they are wanting!

So they are trying to have a baby using her eggs and his sperm, but because of her being so small, she can't carry the baby, so they are using a surrogate. I don't think she has ever had regular cycles, so they are having to pump her full of meds to get even 1 or 2 eggs each cycle (they were trying for 5 but realized it was impossible). So they finally got to a cycle where she had 2 eggs so they flew all the way to LA to some specialist for the egg retrieval. When they got there, the dr did an ultrasound to see what was going on and one of the eggs has disappeared. He was thinking maybe it ovulated but not sure why the second one wouldn't have ovulated too. But regardless they were already there, so he decided to do the retrieval with just the one. By the time he got into the room and all set up (15 minutes later), the second egg was now gone. He determined that they had both ovulated, which is what he thought would happen anyway, but rare that it could happen that fast. Crazy.

Wow, I can't imagine trying to coordinate everything to make that happen...they really have an uphill battle! I set my DVR to record this show from now on...I want it to work for them!

She lives here in Houston, so I do not understand why she does not do everything here. They have great clinics for that here. I can't remember if there was a reason she went out there.

I watched it and felt so bad for them. I cant believe that 15 mins could screw everything up. I really hope it works for them. I love that show.

I love their show - the premiere was so heartbreaking - especially since they had already had 2 cycles cancelled for not responding before this.

I think when they started talking about doing IVF the Dr in LA was the only one willing to take their case since the risks with retrieval for her. I missed the premier. I do think though that these two if they aren't able to have a bio baby will end up adopting a little person baby.

Ditto to what Nicole said. I saw the premier and here are my thoughts....

I don't think she ovulated, personally because when I did my IUI's and ovulated you could clearly see the shriveled sac where the egg burst out of and there was fluid. I didn't see or hear Dr. B mention any of that...in fact, the u/s looked as though nothing was there at all.

I'm not a doctor though. I know they kept talking about her ovaries shifting because of her stature and that of course had me wondering but I don't know.

I was so sad for her! Cannot imagine how devastating that would be.
