Hi ladies! If you remember me, I'm Alice. I conceived my son, Ted, after 2 years TTC and just starting the MA process. He was conceived right after HSG.

We are currently TTC#2. I'm trying to be casual about the whole things since Teddy is still so young, but i'm noticing some concerning things. DH and i agreed not to seek MA until we've been trying for awhile... but i'm wondering if you know what treatment would be for what i'm experiencing.

I've been o'ing late then having really short lps. They started at 8 days, and this cycle have dwindled all the way down to 4 or 5. So far i've tried, my old vitamin regimine, geritol and lemon water, and soy isoflavones. It's only been getting worse. It's also been 6 months since we stopped breast feeding.

Hmmm, good question! I also used to have a late ovulation and a shorter LP, though not to the extremes that you have mentioned. My RE used Clomid with me to help ensure a stronger ovulation, which also helped my body produce enough progesterone to lengthen my LP. It worked, although I did not conceive with Clomid.

It seems like soy should be helping you, though, in the same way that Clomid would. When are you taking it, and what dosage are you using?

I used 150 cd 3-7 last cycle. It caused the worst cycle yet. And the o pains were horrendous and lasted for days and my skin broke out like a preteen. I'm not really eager to try it again plus the 5 day lp. That was based on opks and symptoms though. I'm going to try hard to chart properly this month. It's hard because Teddy still gets up in the night.

I have always had a short lp... 8-10 days. Clomid did not help mine at all and I ended up on progesterone supplements which work wonders! I know you said you've stopped breastfeeding 6 months ago but I wonder if some of your hormones( ie prolactin) are still a little off. I breastfed for a year and it took a good 6+ months for my cycles to start getting back to normal( well normal for me!). Prolactin in specific can mess with ovulation therefore mess with your lp. Just a thought!

My LP was worse after having my kids and nursing fr 19 months than it was before. I was down to 6 days. I tried the soy thing as well and it made my LP worse and I was still Oing late. Clomid also didn't really help me, I needed progesterone along with it, but I didn't get prego.

What finally worked for me and is working again is acupuncture and herbs. My last cycle I Od on CD 28 and had a 10 day LP, the cycle before that was a 9 day LP with acupuncture. This cycle I'm on CD 23 and I should be Oing today or tomorrow. I'm hoping for an 11 or 12 day LP, but of course I'll take longer. The acupuncture can take time, but last time I was prego within 3 months of starting. I've been doing it for about 2.5 months now.

I hope you find something that helps lengthen your LP.

Thank you peimum for my siggie

Totally agree with Val!
Acupuncture and herbs are actually something my RE suggested I try naturally!

I would think clomid or femara would be the first treatment your doctor would try.

I weaned my son almost 2 years ago and my cycles have never gotten completely back to "normal" (they were super clock-work before pregnancy). I would say it took at least 8 months before I started Oing at about the same time as before, but I did have an 11-12 day LP starting my first cycle after weaning.
