Over a month ago I bought my Femara and Ovidrel shot at the same time at my local pharmacy. For some reason I am googling (*bad Lindsey*) and I read about people keeping their Ovidrel in the fridge?? I bought it over a month ago and still have the same one because RE cancelled my trigger and IUI last cycle. It has been in our kitchen above our sink where we keep our meds/vitamins etc. because I was never told to refrigerate it.

I have a call in to the nurse to see if I should get a new shot but I hope they call me back today because Im supposed to trigger between 6-9 tonight and I need time to get a new shot if nurse says to do that. That would suck if I had to get a new one money wise!

** adding that it is a pre-filled syringe. I don't do any mixing or anything to it - not sure if that makes a difference or not...

Yes, Ovidrel must be kept refrigerated. Surprised they didn't tell you that!
Can you get another prescription?

ugh yeah it def. needs to be in the fridge...bug your nurse again and tell her to call in script ASAP for you. Sorry that's such a pain your pharmacy didn't mention when you first got it...

Nothing is ever easy is it? I called my local pharmacy dude and he said I picked up my meds in December so my shot is well over a month old and with it not being refrigerated he suggested getting a new shot...and of course he doesn't have any! I called Kroger pharmacy and they have one so hopefully my RE office will call back and call in a prescription for me!

Im kinda annoyed no one from RE office or my local pharmacy guy told me it needed to be refrigerated.

ugh, that sucks. that's one of the reasons my RE doesn't do premixed so that it doesn't have ot be refrigerated/

Maybe you could complain to the pharmacy and they could reimburse you or at least give you a discount or something. They really should have told you to refrigerate it.

So after several calls back and forth to RE and Kroger pharmacy. Sorry, I forget not everyone has a Kroger probably. Its a grocery store chain. They have my prescription and said it should be filled by 5:30.

Usually I think google is the devil when it comes to certain things because it freaks me out but this time it saved my butt! Im not too happy that I have to buy another shot but its well worth it to take a shot that actually works and isn't expired. I would have been super mad if I would have found this out too late - like tomorrow!

It can be at room temp for up to 30 days (per the package)....I don't think it would have HARMED you if you had taken that one, but it may not have been as effective.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine, she got it from her RE, but they never said for her to put it in the fridge....but it was only 4 days out of the fridge, she was freaking out and then we read that about the 30 days....

Best of luck to you! Glad you can get another one!

Glad you were able to get a new one!

What a pain in the rear though. Our pharmacist told me several times to keep it in the fridge. Put a sticker on it saying so, then gave it to me with a cold pack until I got it home. (It was December, and I live 5 minutes away. Probably not necessary, but nice!) He originally gave me the mix instead of the Ovidrel, but the Rx said Ovidrel. I went back and he had no issues changing it (and didn't charge the difference either). They're a mom and pop pharmacy though (definitely not a fertility one!) so that might be why he's more thorough and doesn't expect me to know what to do with those particular meds. Whereas a pharmacy that deals with alot of the medications might be a little more lax since they figure people using them will have more direction from their RE, or have more experience with them?
New siggie coming soon!

Due with #2 after 5 years of TTCMA. FET #1 after IVF #2 and immune therapy was just the ticket apparently!
