Well ladies I was like most of you wondering how in the world we were going to pay for IVF. So I started doing some research and guess what....there are some states that mandate that the insurance companies pay for IVF up 3 tries per live birth with a $100k limit. Well Maryland is one of those states and since our insurance is out of Maryland we are covered. I am so excited. There are only 9 states out of 50 that have mandates on this. Make sure you check to see if your state is one of them. Your insurance just has to be issued out of that perticular state. So needless to say Dh and I are not stressing out anymore and the insurance company has to apy for it whether they like it or not. Not to many people seem to know about this because the insurance company does not want to tell you since they have to pay for it. Especially those that do not have fertility coverage. Just thought I would pass the information along.

That is awesome news! I know that many East Coast states fall under this category. Apparently the rest of the USA is a bit behind in recognizing infertility as a health issue.

All proceeds go to a family struggling w/ infertility!

I work for an insurance company and I just want to say to make sure that your policy accepts state mandates. Alot of them do not because they are self funded plans. Thats why most policies that cover IVF through a mandated state are government policies...someone who works for the state or Fed Government. So even if your state is a mandated state you wont always get the mandated benefits. Crappy deal I know..not saying your policy is like that but most of the time they are which is completly unfair!
