I used to try to do things evenly, but now that they are older it's not that simple any more.
Teens are obviously more expensive, they don't play with 'toys' anymore, so the ranges for the kids this year will be different.
I have warned them that this year they will only get a couple things because they will get things that will cost more, so do not expect the tree to look like it puked presents.

Its more about cost. The older two get a little more money spent on them, but it usually results in only one or two things, while the littler kids may get 4-6 things depending on how much each item is priced.
I did not go buckwild this year, and trust me I have been known to in the past have a tree that "puked presents" (LOL KrazE).

We spend about a $100 per child. We spent less on Carrie this year...she
s little, and just didn't need anything. It equaled out to three gifts each this year.

I try to do stuff for free if possible. Buy 1 get 1, buy this get that, etc. It doesn't work out perfectly, but it is a game to me. I plan to get them each 3 gifts to open, but within a gift there may be a set of things. Plus stocking stuffers. I have also done shared gifts. Last year I bought this make up play set and an art set. Each was too much for one kid alone, so I made it a partner thing. It worked really well. I got them each a makeup bag from the dollar store and they divided it up. This year the girls want me to get them a cd player for their room. They said they would share it. So I will.

We try to stick to a budget but with so many little ones it's more about the number than the price.

This year it will be 3 gifts each, stocking stuffers (probably toothbrushes, hats gloves -- things they need), and a big family gift.

I think I may have bought more items for my two year old than anyone else so I am going to have to put some things away for her birthday in March. She's just so much fun to shop for.....................

The kids get 3 gifts, a few things in their stockings and a family gift (a wii game), by the time it's all said and done it's about $50 per child.
