we shop pretty much all no name foods, and I do lots of bulk shopping on sales-esp with diapers and canned stuff. Food has always been expensive up here

I've noticed it also, mainly on the key things we "have" to have in the house, Dairy products, we eat a lot of cheese and go through gallons of milk so that is where I notice it more. Other things aren't to bad though so it hasn't effected us to much.....yet.

The key is not using coupons because you have them, that way you often end up spending more.
Watch the flyers and use your coupons combined with a sale!!!

I buy in bulk and sale shop! I also make a lot of things from scratch. It just seems to keep my family full longer and taste better too. Omg milk, cheese, eggs and bread is where we spend a lot of money. Like four gallons a week, 3 loaves of bread, too much cheese to count, and pasta.

You know, our response was completely out there. We sold our house, bought a farm and raise our own beef, chicken, and pork. We have fresh eggs everyday and a huge garden in summer. Last summer, we bought fruit real cheap and canned 150 quarts. We froze 300 lbs of veggies, and made enough spagetti, pizza sauce, and salsa to last us until this summer.

We don't have cow yet, that's the next thing. We plan to grow our own wheat to make our own flour, but I think we are two years out from that, especially with a baby on the way.

But we are way out there!

In the meantime, you could get a mill and order grain in bulk. You may be too far away to join a Breadbecker co-op, but there is likely something else like that.

I pay attention to when things we use a lot of are on sale BOGO, then I buy a ton of it. I should have enough Armandhammer toothpaste til August, when it SHOULD go on sale again. Unfortunately, I haven't found any coupons that match that time.
