I am reading a book on birth order, (by Kevin Leman).I was interested in the book because I have wondered how my kids, all 5 having the same mom and dad and being all girls could be oh so very different.

What number child are you in your family?

What about dh?

Do you think there's anything to birth order and how it makes you who you are?

I actually really like the book, because it's not black and white about it, I am the 4th child, but because of a big gap and that I was the first girl, I am a functional firstborn, which is totally right on, I have most of the traits of the oldest. I am married to people person laid back middle child, which is why we're married and why he drives me nuts.

Also, the book says that your second child will be the direct opposite of your oldest? So true for my girls.

I'm the youngest, but likely a functional first born since there's 9 years btwn #4 and myself.
Wonder how this works with adopted/bio kids?

Lucky mother to five!

I think I was raised more as an "only-child".
My three brothers are 18, 16 and 9 yrs older. My parents divorced when I was in 2nd gr, my mom remarried and from there I pretty much became their only child.

Dh was the middle child of two girls. He is laid back but he's too laid back in my opinion.

My 2nd is nothing like my oldest at all but #5 is JUST like her (it's scary). I also think it's funny that my oldest thinks that #5 is just the greatest thing in the world and can do no wrong. She's not like that with the others.

I am 1 of 2, definitely not 'scholarly' like it says is a trait lol.

DH is #1 of 6, 3 siblings from his mom with 3 total men, 2 other siblings from his dad with 1 other woman. Don't know how that works lol

I am the oldest of 3, and dh is the oldest of 2... I think we're both very much fuctional first borns. We're both born leaders which is where our problems arise sometimes, but is also what makes us so good for each other. :-)

Our #2 babies are twins, so I'm not sure how that works... they both get along with our #1 baby/child. If I were to separate the twins, I think Hannah (twin "b") gets along with everyone alot better and has a much more laid back personality than, Lauren (twin "a"). Our #5 and #6 babies are very much alike and our #4 and #1 babies are very much alike in personality! :-) Not sure what all that means, but it's interesting to see. LOL

I also wonder if they can get middle child characteristics by gender. Like Sydney is the middle girl and she is very much a pushover, and very withdrawn.

Marie, apparently bio/adopted doesn't really matter if, like in your case, the kids are adopted young and really won't know any different.

Of course personality, gender and how you're parented has a lot to do with it, but despite these variables there's still a lot to say for your birth order.

I'm #2 of 2 and definitely "the baby"

DH is #1 of 4 and "the boss"

I dont think my #1 and #2 are opposites. They are different in some ways and similar in others.
#2 and #3 have very similar personalities. and #1 and #4 are quite similar.

*Thankyou Kiliki for my wonderful siggy*

Hmm Interesting. I'll have to look it up.
All of my kids are completely different. I wonder about this all the time.

I am 2 of 3 but was separated from #1 at age 5 until 18.
My dh is 2 of 4 but # 3&4 came along later when he was moved, don't know if that makes a difference.
Mommy to 6 amazing blessings!!

Both me and hubby are 1 or 2. Both the oldest. We were told not to get married, as we'd have to many power struggles. Glad we didn't listen to our "counsler", we are very happy.
Jesus loving, homeschooling, gardening lover, devoted wife to a wonderful hubby and 10 kids, ages 13 down to 12.5 months . We are expecting number 11 due January 1st, 2015.

I am 5 of 7 and DH is 2 of 3. I don't know how I fit in there but my DH is definitely a middle child. I'll have to read the book and see if any of it is true for my kids. My oldest and #2 ARE complete opposites. There are traits of my oldest that I thought she would have though and she doesn't at all. You would think my second child was the oldest by the way they act.
