Not meant to be a debate at all. I hear comments when people hear of a large family "oh they must be <insert religion here>"

Just made me curious - what religion are you? Does that have any factor in how many children you have/had?

I'm LDS, Dh is not. Religion has not played a role in the number of children we have. And since I live in a predominantly LDS state, I don't ever get the religion card.

We're Jewish. And no, religion doesn't play a factor in our decision to have a large family...we were two moderately large families (5+3) that merged to become a big family...that is about to get bigger by 2!

We're Christian Reformed. And our religion has nothing to do with having a large family, but people at our particular church do love to have kids, we're no exception having a crew.

Catholic, no impact on how I got five kids, though---oddly enough nobody in our gigantic church seems to have more than three kids

I am agnostic but live in a heavily Mormon state/city. We are a fairly small family compared to some (although plenty only have 2-3) yet large families are pretty common. Obviously religion plays no role in the number of children we have.

Baptists. Definitely does not play a role in how many children we have.

We are Christian and it plays a huge role in how many kids we have.

Both of us were raised Catholic but we are basically lapsed at this point. DW defines herself as Christian, I go with spirtual but non-religious. Didn't really have any impact on us having a large family.

We're Christians. Our faith hasn't directed our views on birth control, but has influenced our decision to have more children than is average.

I am Methodist and dh was Catholic. He's not really anything - but did convert to our church. It did not play a part in our family size. Well, I guess other than the fact that it was so hard to get pregnant. He might have been trying to tell me something.

DH was raised baptist by his mom, and catholic by his dad. I was raised Lutheran. DH is now a member of the Lutheran church as are all my children. Does not play a role in how many children we have at all. We are a large blended family...that's the main reason we are so large!

I am a Bible thumping born again Christian. While I believe God wants us to just live happily married lives, having sex and having babies, many people (most people) in our belief system do not do so. So therefore, while I believe this is what God purposes, our "religion" does not advocate or support it. I would have been a good Mormon, I guess.

LDS and it had nothing to do with how many kids we have, I have what I felt completed our family.

this is me! i would have probably kept on having babies if the decision was not made for me (medical issues required early surgery). i didn't realize that there were people that let God control their family size but if i would have been married to Joel during the time i could have kids, we would have had a lot! now, knowing what i do, i totally support this thought.
