Where do you stand on school pic packages?

I am truly disappointed this year. They've raised their prices and rearranged the pkgs. so your paying more for less. I would be paying $3 more per pkg. than what I paid last year (for 4 packages) and still wouldn't get as many wallets. I said screw it! I'll buy a yearbook and that will be it. I had their pics taken this summer by a photographer and even her prices were better than this (for alot better pics too)!
Sorry for my rant! Anyways...

This will be my first year NOT to buy school pictures.

Since we are homeschoolers, we obviously don't do school pics. But I do take them to Sears each year on their birthday. For $10 they get about what I think you would get from school pics with better quality. The problem is you can only get one special package per day. But since I do it on birthdays it is no problem, but you couldn't take all 6 and get it done.

Since you had a real photographer, I wouldn't have even thought about school pics. They are generally bad, too expensive, etc.

I don't buy them, but we usually get family pictures done by a private party (haven't yet this year). Yes, school pictures are too expensive. We get little 'safety' cards from them though, it's got the kids picture, and you can fill in their height, weight etc.

waaay back in the day, when mine were younger and in school -- i could not afford to buy the school pics. but i volunteered to help out and usually got free 8x10 of each for my time.

wyatt has his first pictures taken next week, as he is in kinder. we just recently had not only family pics but also had church directory pic done by olan mills. i am not really planning to buy his school pics....my daughter, though, may over-rule that one.

I did them last year for N at the school, I think I paid $40 and didn't get too many. I might take him to Walmart or Sears this year for the $8 package. The company that does the schools here is private and very expensive

I homeschool but even if I didn't I wouldn't buy them. We use Sears when we get pics done.

I am not sure how I feel this year. They are so expensive and I was dissapointed with Logan's kindergarten graduation pics last year. I feel like the photographers dont even care and frankly the three options they send for poses usually look exactly the same so how is that a choice?? I might just take them to Sears or whatever and get pkgs that way. I guess it will depend on how they turn out.

I guess I am the only ones that loves the school pictures. The company we get them from takes nice pictures AND you pay for 2 kids and the other siblings get the same package for free. I get the second most expensive package, its $38, times 2 is $76. Divide that by 5 it's just over $15 per kid which is not bad, and it's all done in one day,so no more hassle. They've let me bring my youngest in since she was 3 too, so this has worked rather well for me.

I take my kids pictures. It's easier, cheaper and I get the shots I want, not the generic blue background. The picture in my siggie is Ryen's "school" picture.

I just bought them. It was like $35 a kid for not many pictures. I do like getting them though. And after the first two kids siblings are half off. Back in Connecticut it was after one kid siblings were half off...that was nice.

Oh ladies just wait! I just got Kelsey's senior pictures order form and it is $350 for the smallest package. I am thinking of ordering a la cart items and just getting a few.

School pics seems like nothing. I really don't buy them either. I do like and 8x10 of each one. (Who doesn't like looking back at our awful school pics) I don't buy packages though.
