What do you do for snacks? Do you offer them at certain times? Can they get whatever they want, or only what you offer? Or do you only eat at meals? What are some household favorites?

Now that my kids are all out of school I feel like all they do is eat, eat, eat. And I am definitely doing a poor job of offering healthy options...I need some ideas. I just get flustered and end up giving them a whole can of pringles (for the four of them) and some kool-aid.

I've cleared out our snack cabinet. The only thing in there at the moment is cereal, oatmeal, and popcorn. (Honestly, I wouldn't mind clearing out the cereal either.)

Now that the options are healthier (minus the ice pops in the freezer) they are slower to snack. Now it's mostly fruits and veggies, a little bit of yogurt because it never lasts long, cheese, nuts, popcorn, and of course the ice pops.

My teen boys eat constantly too.

I have a snack box, its padlocked, it has all the junk in it. Its only opened occasionally. Healthier options are available at will.

I have a snack time in the afternoon. They are not allowed to snack at will. Snack is fresh fruit or granola bar. I'm strict on junk food and bad carbs but they have them here and there. I've taken a lot of time to educate my kids on eating properly. Weight issues run in our family and I believe education and follow through is key.

I choose not to let them snack so they eat better meals-if I do need to snack them its water and a gummy fruit or vegs, knowing they probably won't eat much for supper-they don't get am snack, just one at around 2pm

Lucky mother to five!

The kids get a snack at 3 each day when Bastian gets up from nap. It's not always something super healthy, but they don't get a lot of it either. For example they will all share 1 bag of goldfish crackers or something.

I guess I am not super particular about when they have a snack, but my oldest is not so super little anymore (6).

They can have fresh fruit or vegetables whenever they want. And if they're "hungry" after a snack I offer them a sandwhich. Generally speaking, I don't like them to eat an hour away from supper.

We don't have too many snack foods in our house, most of the things need to be prepared, that said, when they are all at home one of the older ones usually make something, then the other 4 hover around.

I used to just let them snack at will, but my 10 year old will eat everything and leave nothing for anyone else. So 2 weeks ago I changed things up. Fruits and veggies they can have at will, whenever they want. Then I have a shelf that has snacks that they can have, but when it runs out...it's out. Then there is another shelf that they can not touch without asking.

I don't worry about them not wanting to eat at their meals cause mine are healthy eaters, but frankly they were eating me out of house and home. My newest problem is cooking enough at meal times. My son came home from college and he is a HUGE eater, typical 19 year old boy, but when he was gone I cooked less cause I didn't need to cook more. Then there are times when I think one isn't going to be home and is. I just can't seem to get back into the groove of things.

Snacks are available all the time here, fruit and veggies don't last here at all, my kiddos love veggies and ranch dip and any kind of fruit, seriously I bought a five lb bag of apples, a 2 pound container of strawberries, 2 lbs of blueberries, 3 lbs of necterines, a bunch of broccoli and 3 lbs of baby carrots, I think there is one necterine and a corner of the bag of carrots left. I went shopping on Friday afternoon and we were gone all day saturday! I do buy pretzels, and chex mix, dh is the worst one for chips and stuff he will open a bag and eat it until it's gone, with help of course this summer I plan on putting snacks into little baggies and instead of one kid grabbiing the whole bag and consuming it or dumping it on the floor, I'm going to seperate them. I buy chips and granola bars for our on the go snacks like if we are going to the lake for the day. I don't generally buy premade cookies, hohos, little debbies snacks, I will bake cookies or brownies, I sneak good stuff in it though I substitute applesauce or bananas for some of the butter and add cornflakes or oatmeal. But yeah having all of them home is racking up hte grocery bill.

If I let them snack all the time we would never have any food left (and I only have four) They get two snacks unless you count dessert than it is three.

They eat a lot of fruit (frozen grapes are the fruit of choice right now, subject to change at any given moment) ants on a log, popsicles, graham crackers, frozen yogurt tubes...

Well I don't like to give them snacks because I want them to eat their meals ,but if I do,I give them peanut butter sammys or crackers.Fresh fruit goes quick and yogurt.I don't have them down on a certain time I figured its like bf they will let me know although I do have meals on a schedule. If we go to the park we snack more than have a meal and it works better for us that way too.
