Hi there! I'm sorry I haven't been to this board in a while. How is everyone doing? What's been going on with all of you lately? I am doing well just busier than normal it seems. DH and I's first anniversary is September 20th and we'll be heading to San Antonio for a few days to celebrate! I've never been there before but everyone that I know that has says it is just a fantastic place! I'm so excited!!!

We had a super late night last night as we were planning, calculating, figuring out all that we need/want to do in the next few months. We actually spent a good bit of time figuring out the approximate cost of a baby during the first year of life. I was really surprised by the numbers we were getting. Barring any major medical issues, it wasn't as expensive as I would have thought. Including a lot of one time cost items (like a crib, swing, high chair, etc.) it come out to somewhere between $5000 and $6000 for the first year...and that's if you don't nurse and strictly formula feed and includes money for doctors and medicine for regular type things like colds. For some reason I just thought that figure would have been much higher. And of course there is the hope of getting a lot of what you need from a baby shower, so that would help cut that cost significantly. It REALLY got me excited about TTC as there was that small part of me that was stressing over the financial aspect. That really helped to put it into perspective.

So have any of you ever tried to figure out the cost of baby? If so, what figures did you come up with and what were you, or were you not, accounting for?

Those numbers are surprising especially knowing that diapers are a huge cost. But I guess you were just looking at the first year. Most of the diaper figures are the whole time in diapers.

Things are going alright here. A little frustrated because DH's first SA came back poor. He's doing a re-test on Wednesday.

Congratulations on your anniversary. Hope you're going to do something fun.

Thank you Vicki... for my awesome siggy!
