I had my meeting with HR yesterday, and am trying to decide between 8 and 12 weeks of leave. I know with twins it will be crazy & I'll need all the time I can get most likely, but I work from home & my hours are flexible, so really "going back to work" doesn't mean too much. I'll still be here & able to BF the babies. My mom has offered to come by on the days my husband is at work and help out. (DH works 24 hour shifts, rotating). I can only get 8 weeks paid leave because I haven't been working there long enough to accrue much vacation/sick time.

How much time did you take off work? Do you think 8 weeks would be enough in my situation? I'm expecting a C-section which is why I'll get the 8 weeks paid leave. Would looove to be a SAHM mommy but we can't afford it.

I was a SAHM, but I do know that you will need at least 6 weeks to recoup from your c-section, so keep that in mind! Hopefully someone else can answer this for you!

I took 8 weeks with my twins and it felt rushed. With my youngest I took my 8 weeks paid and 4 weeks unpaid. While it was tough financially, I am really glad I got that time with her.

Be aware that you may be out before the babies come as well. That is something I wasn't prepared for! I went out 6 weeks before I gave birth because of preterm labor, shortening cervix, periods of bedrest etc. That ate away at the sick days I was going to use to extend my maternity leave.
