Hey girls. I have been a stalker here. I was wondering if anyone was diagnosed with growth discordance. I am trying not to be to negative, but.....

We were diagnosed male and female infertility (Thank God for IVF and my two precious babies).
Had to start monitoring sugars at 12 weeks
Have lost 25 pounds (finally starting to regain)
My BP has started to get a bit higher
Now the twins are measuring 21% apart growth wise at 20 weeks. The tech said that they were both within normal range--just at the opposite ends.

Any words of wisdom or links to websites. All I can find are abstracts that scare the heck out of me.

Thanks bunches!!

Thanks to Stacey for my awesome siggy!!

I can't help much. I was diagnosed w/ GD at 27 weeks and closely monitor my blood sugars. Because of contractions, I've been on terbutaline since 24/25 weeks. I have to check my blood pressure every day while I'm on that. It's still good, but it fluctuates a lot.

By my 24 week u/s, we could see that Baby A was smaller than Baby B. She wasn't 20%, but she was on her way there. I left that appointment terrified because the doctor did not do a good job explaining things. We started getting weekly u/s at that point. We were closely monitored for the next 4 weeks and she caught up. She's usually right behind B now at each growth u/s. During those weeks, the u/s tech was monitoring blood flow through the cord, heart and brain. They also closely watched abdominal growth to make sure she was growing okay. Eventually they were looking for practice breathing, but you won't see that at 20 weeks. Everything turned out to be fine.

I hope you experience the same type of thing and your twins start catching up to each other. KUP!

Thank you peimum for my siggie

Are you seeing a perinatologist? Are they fraternal or identical?

Mine were always very close to each other in size- until birth. I had a growth u/s at 34 weeks and they were weighing 4 lbs 8 oz. 3 1/2 weeks later they were born and Sofia was 6 lbs 1 oz and Maya was 4 lbs 8 oz!! My doctor did not expect that at all! I figured she had stopped growing, but I'm not sure. They are definitely built different.

My experience was so not your experience, and I really don't have any advice except that maybe a peri could answer more of your questions?
