Well, I had my 36 week appt today. I had gained a few lbs and my feet were definitely swollen. The doctor was having trouble finding the hb's on his u/s (not because they weren't there, but just because the babies are getting big for his little u/s) In the end he had to end up getting a doppler out to find Noah's hb, because he is sitting SO low in my belly. So everything looked good with the babies. I am about 1 cm dilated, but he said my cervix still has good length to it.

He said he was concerned about me though, because of the swelling, my bp (140/100 at the appt, though I have been taking it daily at home and it has not been that high yet), and the fact that there was a little protein in my urine for the first time. He said first time twin moms have about a 1 in 4 chance of developing toxemia, so he wanted to keep an eye on me .... SOOO .... he sent me over to L&D for monitoring and some tests. He told me one of 3 things would happen:

1. The results would come back good and he would send me home this afternoon
2. The results would come back OK and they would keep me overnight for monitoring
3. The results would be bad and I would be having babies today

Soo ... off we went. Things were crazy there (this was about 11, and they had already had 3 c-sections and 2 other deliveries so far today), but they got us into a room quick and we were at the other end of the hall from all their deliveries, so it was nice and quiet. The hooked us up to monitor the babies and were able to find Abigail (Baby B's) heartbeat easy. Again Noah (Baby A) just did not want to cooperate. It took probably 20 min for the nurse to find the heartbeat (we weren't worried though, because we had just heard it and knew he wasn't cooperating today). Even once she found it, the only way she could get it to register on the printout and stay there was for her to press the monitor into my belly. Just strapping it there wouldn't work So they monitored them for about a 1/2 hour and they babies looked great ... no issues at all. The took my blood for tests and had me start a 24 hour urine to check my protein. After that they told me to just relax for a while, and so DH and I watched some tv and I napped on and off for about 2 hours.

When the nurse came back, she said she had talked to my OB and that all my labwork came back great. He was very pleased, so he was sending me home. I just have to finish the 24 hours urine and take it back tomorrow and then go see him again Friday morning for an appt.

All in all not bad, since it is our first scare with anything at all this pregnancy. Made us realize that we could actually be having babies anytime .... though I hope they stay in for a few more weeks.

Glad they are doing a 24hr collection on you. Generally when you show signs of protein on the dip stick you will have more with the collection. This was the case with me atleast. I developed pre-e with DD, but nothing with the twins. I ended up being induced when my protein levels got too high. BP was only high once though. I would be concerned with the 100, so just watch that. KUP.

Ha! Your story sounds almost exactly like what happened to me! My 24-hour urine came back high and I ended up being induced the next day, so I hope you are ready! So exciting!

I am glad to hear that you are feeling okay and have had an easy pregnancy so far. I can't wait to see pictures. My baby B was also named Abigail.

Isn't it a crazy feeling to know your babies will be here soon!! Congrats for carrying them for so long!
I had a similar situation as you, although it started at 32wks and I ended up doing 4 24hr urine collections, nothing like lugging a big container of your pee around.

I'm glad everything looks ok!!!
I didn't have pre-e with my son but I had crazy high protein and had to do 2 24hrs in the last month (36weeks) they didn't know why I had that because my BP was fine but they decided to go ahead and take him anyway..
I'm hoping these babies hang on for a little while, at least 36weeks lol

GOOD LUCK though, I hope your protein isn't too high and they let things happen! :-)

Thanks everyone ... I turned it in this afternoon and took the rest of the afternoon off work to come home and relax. Now just to wait and see what the doc says Friday morning. I am still hoping to keep them in a few more weeks, but at least I will be 37 weeks on Saturday, so if he does decide to induce, at least they should be good at this point. .. should ...
