Honest opinions on the name John?

If we use it then his full name would be John Thomas Manning.

We like all of the options we can call him (John, John Thomas, Johnny, Jack, JT etc) and we are big nickname people, he'd be named after my dad and my husband.

We obviously don't care about popularity since our girl name is Natalie Renee and our current front runner for a boy is Jacob Thomas.

NMS however I think that is is a great classic. Your notgoing to find a whole lot of them populating the school grounds like Jack adn Jacob and you can still use the nick name Jack. I think it is a smart choice.

John got stuck in my head a while back and while it isn't my style, it's sort of my GP. I like it and I think that since boys names all end in -aden, John might be one of those names losing popularity--I know popularity doesn't bother you, I'm just saying --and the fact that it's somewhat after your father gives it all the more reason to use it.

John is a great name, and so is Thomas - but together the names remind me of the penis in Lady Chatterley's Lover :-)
I think Jacob Thomas is very handsome!

I prefer just Jack but I like that you have other nn potential (I especially like Johnny) with using John. It's a strong, masculine classic!
Thank-you GraysMama for my beautiful siggy!

I don't love the name...it just doesn't do anything for me; however, I love that he would be named after both your husband and your father.

John kind of bores me... I much prefer the combo of Jacob Thomas.

I think John is a very strong, classic name that will never go out of style. However, I do like Jonathan better, just because it would give your son more name 'option' as he got older.

Thank you to the SSMC makers for my beautiful siggies!

I love John, especially with the nickname potential of Jack. I don't like Jack on its own as a full name, so I love when people use John as the full name with nn Jack.

Thank you, Jaidynsmum, for the amazing siggy

I think it's great! Nice and classic. I like it better than Jacob, which seems to be everywhere lately. Not that Jacob is a bad name (not at all), it's just everywhere.

John has a lot of great nickname possibilities as well. I quite like calling him "John Thomas" together. It's sweet, but also distinguished.

Personally, I strongly dislike this name - but it's because of bas associations with a 'real life' John...
