Would you use a name you loved that was the name of your nephew or the child of a very close friend?

I've fallen in love with the name Emelyn for a girl but one of my best friends has a daughter named Emmalin. (same pronunciation) It doesn't seem right to use the name now but I don't want to give it up. Also the only boys name I've really like so far this time around is Joshua but it's my nephew's name. So what would you do? Would you use the names anyway or start from scratch?

I'm expecting identical twins this time so I need two boys names and two girls names and other than those two names I probably shouldn't use I'm at a complete loss. Would love some suggestions from you ladies.
My older kids names are Mercy Jane and Nathaniel Christopher.

If you really love the names I would ask the friend and/or family member if they mind you using the name. I personally wouldn't use a name of a family member's or friend's child if it were someone we frequently saw/visited. A distant relative or old friend I would consider. But that's just me! It's definitely not unheard of.

I do love Emelyn though and have a brother named Joshua

I personally would not use them and I would probably be a little ticked if one of my very close friends or sisters used Eli's or Finley's names.

If you just can't get passed those names I'd ask them what they thought and if it would hurt their feelings...

That's what I thought. I'm not going to use them. Do you think Evelyn is too close? I love the meaning of the name and the sound is growing on me but it still might be too close. Not sure. Also considering the name Ashlyn What do you think?

Any other suggestions for my twins? I really need help with boys names.

Evelyn is definitely fair game, and I think it goes while with your older kid's names.

Congrats on the twins, I didn't know they could tell they were identical, especially this early.

I think other good names for girls for you would be:

Emily, Emilia, Emmeline, Emma

For boys
Jonathan (maybe too much in common with Nathaniel?)
