So, I have never asked for opinions on names, so I am a little nervous reaching out!! But I always like to have a name in place early!!

I have 2 children
Boy- Ezekiel John (Zeke)
Girl- Paxton Elizabeth (Pax)

and my SO has one
Boy- Jackson MacNeill (Mac)

I also have one lost named Abiah.

As you can see, I really like names that are unique with a strong meaning. Zeke was born a month after 9/11, his name means God Strengthens, Paxton was born shortly after the war was declared- her name means city of peace. Abiah's name means My Father is the Lord. Mac is named after my SO.

This baby was VERY unexpected, has already overcome some significant challenges (conceived even though we were using contraception, some early complications, my SO who was so resistant to having this baby at first, AND I found out I was pregnant the day before my father's funeral, after a quick illness and unexpected passing). Needless to say, this baby is a trooper!!!

So here are some thoughts:

For a girl I really like Tatum Kathleen (Kathleen is my middle name, Tatum means cheerful, and I do feel like this little one is bringing a lot of cheer to a lot of people!) Thoughts?

For a boy, I would like his first name to be Barron (after my father) but am at an absolute loss on a middle name. I have bounced around Josiah, and I like that name, but it's not totally grabbing me. Whatever the name is, the baby will go by the middle name (as is tradition with my family and the name Barron).

So, what do you think?
Melissa, Mom to DS Zeke (10/12/2001) and DD Paxton (05/29/2003)

I like Tatum a lot. And as i was reading I was going to suggest you name it after your dad if its a boy so I think Barron is perfect!

Nathaniel - it means gift of god. I like that name a lot, and the NN Nate. I'm not religious but I like the idea that the baby is kind of like a gift to help you and your family heal and thrive after your dad's passing.

Thanks for all of the advice! You all have great suggestions!

We landed on our final name choices this weekend and couldn't be more excited!

After a lot of talking, we scratched Tatum- and decided on Raegan Kathleen for a girl (NN Rae)

And for a boy we decided on Barron Abbott (my SO is related to James Abbott Whistler) and use Abe as the NN.

So, now we wait until Dec 31 to find out if Abe or Rae will be joining us!
