My DH is in love with the name Rex if this baby is a boy. I dont hate the name and it is growing on me but I dont know if I love it enough to want to give it to a baby either. I worry about teasing. Is it too out there? Is it a dog's name? Is it a dinosaurs name? Our other son is Drake Jonathan and while I do think it matches in feel and masculinity Im just not 100% sure its a name my son will be able to pull off. So what are peoples thoughts? The middle name would be Karl William. Karl for my dad who passed away this year and William for my FIL.

So Rex Karl William. Sound good or no?

While Rex is nms it is a name I like... I think it goes well with Drake and also the middle name you picked out.

I think it's fine. I could see a kid really being a Rex, it is a name for a confident kid and not a wallflower. If he didn't like it he has plenty of nn to choose from using those middle names.

I like it! Drake and Rex sound perfect together.

I know a kid named Trenton Rex but they call him T-Rex. What boy doesn't like a to be referenced as a dinosaur?

Absolutely LOVE it! I have a thing for short, to the point, boys names. The meaning (KING) is pretty cool too. I say go for it! My husband has a cousin named Rex...it's a name you don't forget!

It's nms, but really cute. It's definitely a name that would stick with you though it could go both ways when he gets older - it could either make him feel really cool, or get teased, though I'm never too worried about that if the name isn't too out there, since kids will always find something to pick at. I also like the meaning as well. It's a very strong name as he gets older and a cute name as a kid. I'd say use it if it grows on you. Plus, Rex and Drake sounds cool together!

my first thought was NO, but then I saw that your other son is Drake, and I think Drake and Rex are awesome together! I could totally see this cute, confident little boy named Rex. and once it's attached to a child, it is easier to love a name. there are lots of names I would have never considered before I met someone with the name.

so I say go for it, seems like a perfect match!

I know a Rex. He is adorable. Still very young, so personality is not there yet. But he totally suits his name and I like it so much better than so many other names being chosen out there today.

I think it has that edgy feel, without heading overboard into "moon unit" and "storm." kWIM? I think it fits the style of your other sons name well.

I automatically think of T-Rex...like most people. For a young kid, that might be fine...but for a teenager...maybe, maybe not? I do love how it goes with Drake though. Very powerful brothers!!!
Is there a longer form of Rex so that he can chose which to go by later down the road? I'm weird...I always think of this. I guess I would like to give my kid options! lol
