I love the nickname Robbie for a boy, but the problem is that my DH's name is Robert and so is his dad's. They have different middle names, but we moved into his parents' old house, and we have already had tons of problems with the mail and the utilities because they have the same name (except for the middle name). So while I wish I could name my son Robert (if I ever have one), it would be too confusing.

DH knows I love the nickname Robbie, and he jokingly suggested "Robinson." I thought, "Well, why not?" I'm not 100% in love with Robinson, but it's not a bad name, and if everyone called him Robbie anyway... I don't know. I'm just thinking ahead and I wanted some opinions.

I like it! I also like the connection without it being the same name.

I actually have Crusoe on my list, lol!

I like it too. I think it is a good choice since it is not the same name, but very close!

I like Robbie for a nn but I'm not a huge fan of Robinson, to much of a last name for my preference.

I like it.

My husband is also Robert, as is his dad & his grandpa. He has a different middle name but being around them is confusing. His grandpa went by Bob, his dad is Bobby & dh goes by Rob.

Love Robbie and Robinson is a good compromise in not using Robert.

Thank you so much, ladies!

I agree that Robinson is a bit of a last name, but I kind of like the last names as first names, and it's sort of growing on me.

I really like Robinson!!! Love how it is like their name but not exactly the same! I dont think it will seem like a last name when paired with your last name know what I mean?

Also - my DH and FIL have the same name with different middle as well and it totally still gets confusing on multiple fronts. I told DH when we were dating we wouldnt be carrying that tradition on. We are working on our own similar compromise should we ever have a baby boy
