My family is big into movies, and quoting them. There are a couple names that I really like (and go well with DD's name) but feel I can't use because we will refer to the movie all the time... for example:

Claire -

"It's a family name"
"It's a fat person's name"
- Breakfast Club

Julia -

Julia Gulia
- Wedding Singer

Are there any names you like but just can't bring yourself to use because it reminds you of something else?

I love the name Jasper, but DH hates it because of Jasper on "The Simpsons"

I also love the name Charlotte, but went to high school with a girl called Charlotte the Harlot.

I have names I like but won't use... because of the way they sound with my last name.

Last name: King. So you can imagine. We can't name our kids:

Larry (not that I'd want to)
Martin OR Luther
Joe (try it out)
Jake (doesn't form a word, but does run together too much)

and many others... such as my one-time very very favorite, Quinn, which just forms a mouth full of K and N sounds.

Luckily as my pool of possible names gets smaller, I haven't been totally turned off by any names due to movies/TV.

Maybe this will help with your assocation...

Claire Daines, who is a very pretty actress (Romeo & Juliette)
Claire, the cheerleader from Heros. Super sweet and pretty.

'Hello Clarice' comes to mind.
A lot of stupid/gorey movies take good names.

Regan, Carrie, Casper, Damien, Rosemary, Salem, and Sabrina.

That's all I can think of.

I like the name Gage for a boy, but all I can think of is that little devil child in the movie "Pet Semetary". I like the name Ephram too, but all I can think of is the whiny kid from Everwood.

This is a bit o/t but when we bought our first pug, we named him Malachai. Now whenever someone asks his name 9 times out of 10 they say, "Oh, like the kid in Children of the Corn"...so I can imagine I'd get the same thing with something like Gage or Damon/Damien.
