Do you think of these names as being masculine, or feminine? Is one more masculine and one more feminine?

Which do you prefer?

I've seen Ellery on a girl with the nn Ellie, and also Emery on a girl with the nn Emmy.

They're both masculine, as they're both primarily surnames. That being said, any boy named Ellery or Emery these days would get beat up, but I don't like them for a girl either. Emery looks like an Emily knock-off, and she'll get annoyed at everyone calling her Emily (trust me, I know, I was named Ashton when the #1 girls' name was Ashley). Ellery, well, it just doesn't look complete as a girls' name. Name her Eleanor and call her Ellery, if you like it.

I don't really care for Ellery....but think that Emery makes a very cute girl name. I really don't think of it as a boy's name though.

I think Emery would make a cute girl's name. I'm not fond of Ellery.

I think they're bot feminine because I only know of girls called these names. I like Emery a lot, but not Ellery..

I think they are both feminine sounding male names. I'd never use either one on a boy (or girl).
I don't care for Ellery since it rhymes with Celery. Emery reminds me of an emory board.
