Ok....I like the names Caroline and Kara/Keira. I have considered using Caroline for a first name and a middle name. However--it occurred to me that I could have the best of both worlds--two names in one if I used Caroline. Do you think that Kara/Keira is an approporiate nn for Caroline. I realize that Cara would be more appropriate--but I just like the K spelling so much better What do you all think?

It would work but in general people feel free to spell nicknames however they want (unlike the name on the birth certificate, which hopefully most people try to get right). And if it's not intuitive ... like Caroline/Kara ... you will probably be correcting people over and over again.

If you want to spell Caroline, Karoline or something, I could definitely see Kara or Karrie. Keira maybe too.

But I think it wouldn't really matter. Just make sure that her name written down is always CAROLINE (on her backpack, birthday party invitations, etc) and then it won't matter how anyone thinks Kara is spelled. You'll be free to spell it with a K in your head and she'll be free to doodle it in her notebook with a K too. The neighbor lady and grandma can think it's spelled Cara all they want. If you always write Caroline instead, they likely will too, and then you won't have to argue over the spelling. When you call her in for Kookies it will sound just the same and they won't bug anyone about it if you don't bring it up for them to see.

I think Kara is a nn for Caroline, but I agree - my daughters name is Brehana and people spell her nn Bree - about 3 different ways, so I just don't worry about it....I write it how I want to

I could definitely see Kara/Cara, but Keira is a bit of a stretch for me...
