Would you rather go with the traditional spelling or use a unique one?

I like normal, it is easier for everyone to spell and the child to remember.
Ashley(24), married to Justin(26), SAHM to Natalie(4) and Ryan(10 months)

Neither of those.

Say Michaela. Mikayla and other nontraditional spellings rank higher in the popularity charts than the original spelling, Michaela, does. Does that mean Mikayla is the normal spelling and Michaela is a unique spelling, because Mikayla is more popular?

I'd choose "the traditional spelling" instead of "normal".

Normal. I like the most established and easiest way to spell a name. I'm not a fan of the random 'y'.

Okay.. I fixed it so it says traditional, Lauren! That was definitely the word I was thinking of, but it just didn't come out right.

I think it all depends on the name and the variation of that name. My name is not spelled 'traditionally' and is definitely more complicated than the norm, Ashley. But with how popular that name is now, not when I was growing up, though, I would never think of spelling it any other way.

Oh, and I had no trouble learning to spell my name. Even with 2 middle names on top of it.
