My doctors office just called me this past Thursday to say that my pap came back abnormal and they scheduled me to come in for a "colposcopy" on Tuesday.
Have any of you ever experienced this? What was the result? What could be wrong with me?
I have regular annual GYN appts every year. I have never had an abnormal pap. And I have had 2 healthy pregnancies?
Any insight any of you can give me would be great...at this point I am driving myself crazy worrying

When I was pregnant and after I had my baby my pap's came back abnromal as well and my doctor told me it could be cancer so she ended up doing a biposy which HURT but it came back fine.

My doctor said I was perfectly healthy but she told me to come get a pap every 3 months to be on the safe side.

Abnormal paps come back all the time. Most of the time they are nothing to be worried about. My roomate in college had one and I've heard a few gals on the TTC boards that have had them. From what I understand you can wait a few months and have another pap done or you can go in for further investigations. My roomate went back in and they (sorry here) scraped some skin with a wire type brush. It sounds terrible and I think she did say it hurt. But when she got the new results back everything was fine. She did go back 6 months after for another pap.
The abnormal paps can just be nothing. Tons of ((hugs)).

A colposcopy is a closer examination of the cervixs. The doctor will put on a "wash" which you might feel a little tingling in order to see areas of "trouble". Usually then, a biopsy of those trouble areas will be taken and examined to see what they are.

I have had all abnormal paps and it is because i have high risk HPV which is the main cause of abnormal paps. My biopsy results came back perfect -- no dysplasia. Just inflammation.

The biopsy itself didnt hurt me -- i didnt feel a thing. Everyone is different though.
