It depends I believe. It used to be once every year, but now insurance (BLAH) says that unless you have had an abnormal pap or any other issues, you can do it every 2 or 3--I would check with your GYN
♥Thanks you jaidynsmum for my awesome siggy ♥

It depends. If you are in a faithful monogomous relationship, your partner has tested negative for HPV, you are also negative for HPV and have never had an abnormal pap - you can go every 3 years.

Otherwise, once a year is necessary.

Unless of course, you're a 29 year old virgin. Then you wouldn't need them at all.

Technically after you turn 18 you should have one every year regardless as to weather or not you are having sex and weather or not you are monogomous. However, some doctors will be ok with spacing out your paps after you turn 30 if you have had 3 normal paps in a row.

I used to have one every year, but now my Dr. has told me about some reccent study that shows women only need to have them every 2-3 years, but that is all about depending on you - if you are in a serious, monogomous relationship, etc.

If I were you, I would talk to your Dr. about it and see what his/her opinion is on it.
