Ever had one or attended one in the summer?

(Whether while out camping or at a get-together of some sort)

What stories and songs were shared? What was your experience? Is there something primal and powerful about gathering together by a campfire?

Not since I was a teen doing camping trips with my church group.

We sang "kumbaya" and the "sipping cider" song and others and told spooky stories and did smores.

It was fun, innocent. I miss hearing spooky stories and talking about snipe hunts and fun stuff like that.

~My thanks to *Kiliki* for the siggy and Lucy S for the blinkies~

We have a fire all the time. We have about 7 fire pits on our land right now. We love campfires. There is something primeval about them that I love ♥

Only once, on grade 5 school camp.
From memory we made damper and billy tea and sang Waltzing Matilda.

I live in a high bushfire risk area, so any outdoor fire in summer is a huge no-no.

I'm scared of fire, so I have to sit very far back to not freak out. Sadly I have had bad experiences but I am hoping one day to make a clean start.

We have a fire pit in our backyard but we only use it during the cooler months. Where I live it feels like we get a week or so of spring and autumn, then maybe 3 months of winter, and the rest of the year is HOT HOT HOT. Seriously the other day it was 118 outside! Yes that was during the day but night is still very hot in the full swing of summer, anywhere from 85-100. So while I really love campfires, it is too hot to do it in the summer here.

I grew up with fires and figured all families enjoyed them

I love, love, love them. Unfortunately we live within the city too much to enjoy them here, which I absolutely cannot stand.

We had a lot as a kid, living out in the country and it was always such fun. Marshmallows and hot dogs!!

I miss it now
