Adoption is something dh & I have talked about, although not too seriously yet, but it is something we have considered in the future. My question is this if you want to adopt do you have to have a bedroom for every child? I always grew up in a family where we had 2 to a room and honestly most of my kids prefer sharing a room to having their own. Currently we have a 5 bedroom house, but we have 6 kids. I know probably nuts for considering adoption, but I wanted to know if we'd have to have a room for each child to even consider looking into this. This is not something we would likely be doing right away, but maybe down the road. I just trying to find out info on it.

I didn't have any other children when I had my home study done so I don't know for sure, but I had a friend who had a home study done and the only requirements at that time (about 10 years ago) in her state was that she had to have the sexes split - only girls in one room and only boys in the other - and each child have to have their own bed - even if they ended up with each other in the end, they had to have a bed of their own. I can imagine these rules could be different from state to state so you might want to double check - Good luck!!!!

Yeah, I bet it probably varies by state. When I was looking for TX requirements, it said no more than 2 per room if I remember right. (Obviously same-sex!)

I think for the most part, it's probably something like Chrystal said, no more than 2 per room. When we were doing our home study to adopt Jacey, we told them that she would be sharing a room with Jaden, and it wasn't a problem. We had an extra bedroom, which we used as a playroom, but we wanted the girls to be able to bond, so we chose for them to share at first.

I believe in our case they said different genders had to be in a different room from 5 years old and up, but otherwise they just checked we had room for a bed and a dresser for each child.

I think it depends on how you are adopting too. Different agencies and such have different requirements. We can have 3 in a room if they are the same gender.

Thank you to AlexAiden Mommy for my beautiful siggie!
