I have a few questions about adoption, I'm hoping you ladies can answer them.

1. How long would it take for an adoption to go through if there was a stepmother who wanted to adopt her stepson, and the first mother wanted to give up her rights?

2. If the Bio Mom changed her mind in the middle of the process but then re-changed her mind, (so she went from not wanting the child to wanting the child and then back to being willing to give up her rights) would the adoptive mother have to re-start the entire adoption process over again?

I know these questions might not make much sense, I'm trying to do research for a book I'm writing but articles are so dry sometimes, I need help from people who have been there.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Thank you to the wonderful ladies who mad the blinkies!

"The Lord compensates the faithful for every loss. That which is taken away from those who love the Lord will be added unto them in His own way. While it may not come at the time we desire, the faithful will know that every tear today will eventually be returned a hundredfold with tears of rejoicing and gratitude..... These experiences, while often difficult to bear at the time, are percisely the kinds of experiences that stretch our understanding, build our character and increase our compassion for others."

I think you might want to check laws. I dont have an answer for the first question. The second question could vary greatly from state to state based off laws.

Im sorry I couldnt be more helpful.

I would contact a lawyer in your state, one who specializes in family law.

When a parent gives up their parental rights, there is a waiting period in most states in case the bio parent changes their mind. Since this would be a private adoption, your main resource would be your adoption atty.
