We got our letter inviting us to attend the classes we have to attend to start the adoption process. I'm soo excited. Has anyone had to take these before what are they like? I don't know if all adoption agencies require this or not. I'm adopting from the state so I know part of is about the differenct emotional, physical and mental disabilities these children may have. I also know its about how the whole process works. We have to attend these before we can start the process i'm so excited.

My parents started to look into an agency, where they were going to have to take many classes. My parents worked crazy hours at the time, so they couldn't. They ended up going through another agency, and didn't have to take any classes.

(Atleast, I think this is what you're talking about...)

I took classes for ours already and it was simple as can be. All we did was learn about the different issues that can arise and do some group activities. Its so easy and was so laid back for us. They call the classes training hours here and we had to complete 14 hours. They divided up the 14 hours into 2 saturdays. I can't stress to you enough how simple ours was. I was worried about them but when I got started on the classes it was a piece of cake. I am in South Carolina though.

We didn't have to take classes either there was a short list of books we had to choose 2 to read, and then 2 videos we had to watch that's it.
We are going to be starting up the process of adopting our second child this summer and already our agency told us we will just renew the homestudy that was already completed for Micayla and our SW said that she only has to visit the house once instead of twice like last time.

We went with a private agency though so I am not sure if that constituted the differences in what is required as far as classes.
PM me anytime if you have questions or just need to chat.
We are so blessed to be able to adopt.
