These classes are required when you are adopting through the state of Oregon. There are 8 3hr classes held 2x a week. Each class deals with different subjects: The process, children from abusive homes (physical, mental and sexual), children with Fetal alcohol syndrome and ( I can't remember the name) the children whose parents did drugs before they were born, the transition process from foster home to adoptive family home. There are also classes on when you a adopt a baby from a different race then you and so on. After we complete these classes we will be certified to adopt and be Foster parents. I'm excited but not so happy that the classes are 3 hrs long.

Interesting! I think the classes would be good, but then I've always been a "school" type of person.

WOW! That does sound like a lot, but I guess you will be prepared for just about anything, and in adoption, that's a good thing. Just remember, each of those classes you complete gets you one step closer to your precious baby! Good luck!!
