After finding out that you can't adopt from China if you've been diagnosed with depression or anxiety I'm wondering if that is a common restriction with adopting from most any place? Anyone here who has been diagnosed with either of these an has had a successful adoption?

I don't know. Does it matter how long ago the diagnosis has been? It's been several years since I've taken any meds for depression (2001 was the only time).

I have been diagnosed with PTSD and Major Depression, in the past. I adopted 2 children domestically. I did have to submit a physical from my doctor and part of the homestudy I talked about how I overcame the issues and why it made me stronger. They pretty much just want to make sure your stable and that you are able to recognize signs and get appropriate help. I think the requirements by China are silly. Many people going through adoption (especially if after infertility) are going to have some depression issues or anxiety. To me, it's like saying you can't adopt if you have a cold, or PCOS, or something. It's not a common restriction that most other places make. China is just being
