My 8 year old son just had bifocals put in his glasses. Its not that they think he needs them to see. Its just tat he is so nearsighted that when he looks at something really close (like a book) his eyes cross.

The doctor ordered them after my SO told him about the eye crossing. But I dont really like the bifocals and wonder if they are really necessary. Any one else have a young child with bifocals?

my daughter is i ncontacts not bifocals now but from what I have learned about glasses (as she will wear them over her contacts when she is older) is that its best to have them. Now does he wear glasses normally? if he doens't why not just reading glasses?
