I'm still thinking about ways to save $$. We don't buy a lot of lunch meat, but we do buy some from time to time and I often buy deli cheeses. Yet I'm always amazed by the prices even when their on sale. So my question is, do you still buy deli meats/lunch meats?

I do sometimes, but unfortunately I usually end up throwing most of it out. I get a craving for it (even when I'm not pregnant) and make a sandwich or two, and then I'm over it. I hate to waste food, so I've almost quit buying it (particularly meat).

Dh insists on the thick-cut deli meat. I buy it in bulk tho, so it's not much more expensive than regular packaged lunch meats.

We don't buy deli cheese. Too expensive.

We do buy lunchmeat, though we buy it at BJ's. Our BJ's (warehouse club) has a deli. It is much cheaper than the grocery store. For example, Land of Lakes American cheese is only 2.99 per pound. And they take coupons! There is one in the paper from last week for $1 off per pound. DH and I pack our lunches and I also pack one for my DS. For us, it is cheper to pack sandwiches than anything else, though I will occassionaly splurge and buy a frozen meal or 2 if they are on sale and I have a coupon. If you don't buy lunchmeat and pack your lunch, what do you pack?? Any better ideas?

Well, we do a lot of soups, a lot of leftovers, salads, and some things I make and freeze that we can then take into work (like burritos). So in truth, we find we don't "need" lunch meat as much for packing lunches. I actually find I need it more to feed something to the kids when we're home for lunch and I'm looking for something different.
