When will you give your baby a sippy cup? What kind will you start with?

I'm actually thinking about starting with a straw type cup and see how he does. I let him try to drink from a straw the other day and he got some water up but it spilled out of his mouth, of course. But he loved it and kept wanting to do it again. I guess we will start with water in a sippy when he starts eating solids. I'm not really planning on giving any juice.

I started DD around 7 months and that's when I'll start Caleb. DD was completely off the bottle by 12 months and I want the same for DS. I'll just start off with a playtex or Gerber sippy with the handles. I love Playtex and Gerber...never once had a problem with them leaking.

I have couple of sippy cups for Emersyn - one with handles, one without - I've tried her with both of them a couple of times, but she doesn't seem too fussed yet... I'll probably try her each week until she gets the hang of it..

Sam is already using the Nuby soft spout sippies, I give them to him at meal times when he has solids, right now I just put water in it for practice and he can drink from the cup but he does not appear to like water, he takes a sip and spits it out and repeats 10x before he throws the cup on the floor LOL. My dd always did really well with the straw cups but I hate cleaning them
