When I was feeding Enfamil you had to use the bottle within 2 hours, and only had 1 hour once you started feeding (unless refrigerated, of course).

Is it the same with Good Start? On the can it says "feed immediately", but if I know Ally is going to eat within 30 minutes I like to go ahead and mix a bottle and sit it aside for a few minutes, instead of waiting until she starts crying. I've tried premixing bottles, but in the time it takes me to warm a bottle I can mix a new one.

I use Good Start w/ Iron (in the purple and white can) Actually, I am looking at it right now. I use it within an 1 hour. I sometimes make it a little ahead of time, but I go with the 1 hour rule. I ask my DR at Prestons 2 month appt. and she told me to go by the 1 hour rule, then dump the rest down the drain.

I think the general rule for formulas is its good for 2 hours once made, but only good for 1 hour once the baby starts to drink from it. I know this is true of goodstart, and I *think* true of most formulas but I cant speak for the others.

But enfamil is not the same as goodstart. For example goodstart says once a bottle is made it can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours, but enfamil says 48. I think enfamil is the only brand with the 48 hour rule but again I dont know about all brands.

Thank you Rawisner for the Siggy!
