Hello everyone, I'm not new, but I lurk, and always have feeding questions, so I thought I'd ask for once, hehe
Zoey is 3 1/2 months, and FF, and on the Enfamil Thickened (AR is USA I think). Because she's a spitter, heh.
Anyways, I am also putting rice cereal in her bottles, 1 tbsp for 6 oz.
I know the thickened kind can make them constipated.. which she kind of is..
but she always went everyday.
i recently changed her rice cereal brand from nestle to parents chopice, to see, cuz its cheaper, and now she is RIGHT backed up... she even bled alittle this morning
Is it because of the cereal change? should I change back?
I dont know what to do. I have 2 big cans of formula left, and 2 boxes of the cereal..
so basically I would like some advice, what would you do? I dont know if this is something to bring her in to the DR?

If I have to, I wont even use the rest of the parents choice cereal. poor little zoey

I know after I'm done the thickened cans, i am going to go back and try the regular enfamil again, since we have some cans laying around here.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me some help!!!

Amy

If there is blood, I'd bring it up to her DR. Is there a place that you can sell unused cereal or formula there. We have them here, quite a few actually. Hope she starts to do better.

I would say that if you changed the cereal and then she got constipated then it may be the cereal. I don't know if there is a difference in ingredients or anything from one brand to another. I have only used one brand of cereal. As for formula...it does take up to 2 weeks to adjust to a new formula and it is best to change slowly so that the baby doesn't get constipated or get an upset stomach.
Of course it is best to discuss any changes in formula with the pediatrician/doctor.

talk to your doc about putting either karo syrup or mineral oil in the bottles. my oldest was constipated after we switched to formula and started solids around 6 months. my ped had me give her 1 tsp of mineral oil once a day in one of ther bottles. worked like a charm. we did that until she was eating more foods with fiber.
