did you start introducing a sippy cup???
and what was your baby's reaction to it?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I gave a sippy cup to my ds at about age 6 months old and he did pretty much everything with it but drank it!
He always put it to his mouth but wasn't aware that he could atually get something out of it.....

Grace isn't quite there yet, we still have a few months to go!

5.5 months with just water
She does alright with it. When she started getting teeth I got a hard spout one (Started with a soft spout) since she was chewing on the soft one.

I start around 7 mos. I can't remember exactly but I think around 9 mos to a year they were using it well. Now breaking the sippy cup habit isn't something anyone ever talks about! Not for them - for me! They are so darn convient to take drinks to the park or let them wander around the hosue with. We just recently threw them all out after I found out from the dentist they are just like a bottle and can cause cavities and my 3 year old had to get one filled!

I started at 6mos. He seems ok about drinking from it. But he will just take a few drinks from it, then he is done with it. I guess for him, it seems to be take it or leave it. KWIM?

I would say start around 6-7 months...even if the baby just plays with it they more they see it the sooner they will get the hang of it. Paige is 9 months old and is developmentally delayed (may be special needs) and she still just plays with the sippy cup but I was told to keep giving it to her to see if she eventually catches on. Ocassionally try to put it up to the baby's mouth and "show" them how to drink from it.

At what age did you start introducing a sippy cup??? Hmmm.. I'm sure it was 6 month. We used it to introduce juice. I was told to try around 6 month with juice from my PED and WIC lady. They said never offer juice in a bottle.
What was your baby's reaction to it? He chewed on the top (it is the Avent Naturally sippy) and didn't like the handles. The second day he slurped it down. He has 2oz of juice in it every morning.

***We had to take the handles off it***
