I started giving Kaylin bananas in her cereal this week, and she has been unusually stopped up in the poop department. Do bananas cause constipation? Has this happened to any one else's LO?

She absolutely loves them! So I hate for them to be causing her tummy troubles...

I just wanted to tell you while I know some babies aren't affected this way, bananas definitely DO make my son constipated. It's one of the four foods in the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apples, and toast) that are recommended when a baby has loose stools to sort of slow down their digestion and bowels. For my son, just too much of any of these foods will cause constipation.

It can cause babies to become constipated, it does for my daughter.
