I'm driving myself, and likely my spouse, nuts. This is why I decided lurking was bad anyway - I needed someone to hear my raving lunatic thoughts about ttc!!

After months of discussion, we finally decided that we were both on the same page about wanting child #2. While I waited for him to come to terms and decide, I decided to focus on weight loss and exercise because it kept me focused on that rather than badgering him! I signed up for a half marathon race in early December to partially keep me motivated to exercise and stretch my skills running and partially because I figured it was a good goal. I didn't think I could convince DH to change his mind about having #2 before the end of the year anyway.

So he throws this whole "I'm okay with this now" at me a few weeks back, and says he wants to wait until my race is over. Because yippie, I now have to run in this race!! I'm half annoyed, half amused. I got what I wanted, his agreement, but now I'm also stuck actually exercising. It's not really that bad...but argh!

So...it's halfway through September, and the race is early December...and I find myself arguing that really, ttc now wouldn't be THAT bad of an idea! I've been running consistently for 4 months now, so what would be the problem if something magically *happened* between now and the race? I could still run/walk it! Right?

Am I nuts or what? Has anyone else tried to run while pregnant? I've never been much of a runner before. The last time I really got into running, I found out I was pregnant, and used that as an excuse to completely stop and veg for 9 months

Help.

Not sure about running either.

I got the fever on a high level so I hear when you're coming from but there's just more stuff that has to get worked up before I can bring it up again since it makes me so emotional whenever we talk about it...

I'd definitely talk to your OB about the running before you actually TTC. I've heard you can keep doing it and not push yourself, but I've heard others that say to not run.

But I am signing up to run a 5K on Thanksgiving and I hope to do a half marathon before we TTC too. It looks like I'll be following in your footsteps lol. I might have to do a whole marathon to keep me busy if my hubby stretches out school any longer than spring 2013, lol.

Thanks ladies. I ate a box of cookies last night, that seemed to help! lol

I guess I'll just go back to my running schedule because it's just easier to contemplate finishing the race then dealing with the restrictions that would come from having to figure out how to not raise my heartrate too much when pregnant. My "pace" while running is laughable....4 months of running gives great conditioning, but it doesn't make you THAT much better in shape! I still huff and puff my way through each and every run.

Oh well. Each day is a new day, and I'm doing well today mentally. It's only 9am though!

You would have to talk to your ob and make sure you are both comfortable to run while preggo but I do know a lady her ran a half marathon early in her pregnancy. It all depends if that's what your body is used to or not.

I don't know anything about running, but I totally sympathize with you on the waiting/not waiting question!
