This was almost 2 weeks ago, but I wanted to share it now that I have a chance and I know he is healthy

Parkers nanny has two daughters that are 8 & 9, well they got swine flu apparently they had the cough on Thursday when he was around them, and Friday morning for a few minutes before they headed to school.
I picked him up Friday afternoon early bc he was very cranky; took him to the Ped just to make sure it wasnt an ear infection (they did a flu test he was fine) and they chalked it up to teething....a few hours later he was A-OK....but her daughters came home with high fevers and she took them to the Dr where they tested + for swine flu!

I know alot of people are so worried about it, and I am really happy to report that myself and our pediatrician believe that he didn't catch it at least in part because of me still breastfeeding!

That's great to hear! I'm really happy that DD is still breastfeeding with the flu season coming up.

That is great news!

My motivation for continued breastfeeding is to protect Lacey against the flu this winter

That's great to hear! I don't doubt that BF'ing has kept DD healthier than other kids. I also hope it will protect her from swine flu if she gets exposed. My nephew got it from his daycare and sis has her hands full.

That is great to hear, Katrina. I think it is really good to know how much we protect our babies from just because we breastfeed.

It's good that he is well love .....way to go. Although the swine flu is a new kind of flu and not even you are really protected from it, so i rather think this was mostly due to luck than anything else.....My Ped said that the worst thing that can happen with the swine flu is get pneumonia (most dangerous complication)....that's what you need to care for. I would be really careful around his nanny if she has older children. She will bring in more incidents than this one. Be careful with it

I was hoping to nurse Jonah through the flu season as well (as it's kept him from getting too sick before) and I think my milk is about gone from pg.

Hopefully it will come back in soon though. In the meantime I am also giving him Vit -D.

Glad you got such great BF support from your Pedi though - that's awesome!
