New here but not to JM possible failure to thrive m 13 month old
My littlegirl, is well, little. She is 28.5 inches and 17lbs 13 oz. She is meeting almost all of her milestones but STOPPED sleeping through the night at 6 month. That is when her weight started to dip down.

Now, the Doctor said she needs to see weight gain or they are sending her to ccmc for failure to thrive.

I don't know what to do, I feed her every 2 hours, she has never liked stage 3 foods and certain foods she chews and then spits out if she chews too long. I gag if I chew too long so mayb it is herditary.

I am only 5' tall and my mil is 100 lbs soaking wet and 5'2" maybe if that. Maybe Alexanderia is just going to be small.

Alexa still wants to nurse but the doctor said NO MORE, she isn't getting the calories she needs in BM anymore. I have been trying to wean but we will not tell you how that is going, she throws fits. Try getting her to go to sleep is terrible when she wakes up screaming.

Any help? Anyone been through this?

Does she eat normal table foods? Liek the same foods you and I would eat?

yes she does, she will eat just about anything we eat. Sometimes meats are tough and she chews until she spits them out. LOL usually though she eats and swallows.

Welcome! Looking forward to getting to know you and Alexanderia, but sorry to have you guys here under these circumstances. I'm Tracy and my little guy is Jonah. He's 22 months and 19.5lbs. Personally, I wouldn't stop breast feeding. If she isn't really into eating solids or regular milk, I wouldn't take away her only consistent source of calories, even if it's just a little bit. My daughter is a really picky eater (no FTT though) and we just put the food in front of her. She can either choose to eat it or not and eventually, she will eat it. With younger ones, I've had luck with putting a few different choices of food in small bowls and letting my little guy wander and eat when he chooses to. Have you tried offering pediasure? It's good for calories. Does she have a history of reflux? Anyway, hope that helped a little.

Hi! I'm Jessica! My son has a very rare form of dwarfism and is very tiny, even with all sorts of interventions. So, luckily, we know at least part of the reason that he is FTT. However, there were some big contributors besides just dwarfism. (They are common with his syndrome, but also happen among the general population.) You mentioned that she doesn't sleep through the night anymore. Have you had a sleep study? Milo ended up having severe obstructive sleep apnea, as did my other son. They've both had the necessary surgeries, and we hope to see them both improve! My other son has no genetic issues, but he had all the typical symptoms and fell off of his growth curve. Maybe have a dr check that, do an official sleep study.

I'd keep on the BM, too. We have to fortify mine with formula, even though mine already had higher calories. I pump, add the powder, and Milo can have that! There's also some stuff called Thick-It that you can add to formula or BM to make it a little more pudding-like to get the kids who need the calories something different, but still give them those calories.

And, of course, you said that you're small, so chances are good that your children could be small, too. I hope that you get some answers soon! Hugs!

I would definitely not stop BFing. That just seems rediculous to me and that the Dr is one of those who thinks that BF after one year is a sin or something... The BM no matter how many calories is still good for her in other ways even if it is not just fat or calories... Try to add more calories to her foods by adding butter, oil, frying things etc and that will help add calories too.. You can get the stage 1 or 2 meat babyfoods...will she eat that? Also she could have the "pureed" meats like underwood brand here has chicken, ham and beef I think...Good luck and I would STRONGLY disagree with your doc about weaning under the info you gave here...if there is more to it that may be different but not if he just "thinks" it isn't "good enough."
