The Struggle to Not Compare
Anyone else struggle to not compare their LO to others? I find myself not so much comparing Danny to normal hearing children his age, but I compare him to kids of his same hearing age. There are a few other babies with cochlear implants whom I follow through blogs, and I am working on not freaking out right now because they all have started babbling and Danny hasn't. (They were all implanted within the span of 1-2 months.)

It's kind of funny, because I KNOW all kids develop language at different rates - period. If Danny were a normal hearing kid, being a month behind other kids wouldn't bother me at all ... it never did with Eric. But suddenly because of his loss I am super sensitive about it.

Re: The Struggle to Not Compare
I think its normal to compare. But don't panic. Each child developes differently. wether its speech impairment or hearing impairment we all compare our kids with other kids its natural.
